Splash Bar New York (SBNY) has evolved into a world-wide phenomenon in the Gay Nightclub scene. Since its opening in 1991, Splash has undergone several transformations and evolutions to stay one step ahead of its competition. Currently, its 10,000 square feet over 2 floors of pumping energy. In addition to an enormous 2,000 square foot dance floor, the club boasts a full stage (working full length shower), a state of the art lighting system, and spectacular Video Displays throughout. The ground floor is designed by Bohn and Associates, while the downstairs was designed by Bromley-Caldary Associates, both of NYC.
SBNY is open 7 nights a week, located in the heart of Chelsea, and is crowded nightly. The club has many guest performers including: Brittney Spears, Betty Buckley, Taylor Dane, Patti Labelle, Cyndi Lauper, Grace Jones, Jennifer Holliday, and others too numerous to mention. One of the main attractions at Splash, or SBNY, is an amazing sound system backed up by some of the very best DJ talent from around the world, including: Alex Lauterstein, Billy Carroll, Brett Henrichsen, Chris Cox, David Knapp, Frankie Knuckles, Hex Hector, Manny Lehman, Max Rodriguez, Paulo, Susan Morabito, Tracy Young, and a special performance by Junior Vasquez.
Over the years, the nightclub has garnered numerous awards and is recognized as the busiest nightclub in New York City. Recognition as the city’s top bar has come from: Next Magazine, HX Magazine, New York Press, The Village Voice, CityGuide and NewYorkMetro.com. Features have been in The Advocate, Out Magazine, New York Magazine, TimeOut New York, and the New York Times. The club’s space has been used as a set location for Sex & the City, The Daily Show, and documentaries. Additionally, it has been used for numerous feature films.
The Lower Lounge is available for Parties, Events, Holiday Gatherings and Corporate Events. It is newly renovated in the Summer of 2004 with a private DJ, food preparation space and an intimate lounge setting, all in a cozy atmosphere.
HAPPY HOUR
Just had a hard day and you can't wait to let off a little steam? Or perhaps you are looking to meet up with that cute new associate in your office. Splash’s Happy Hour is an appointment you don't want to miss offering 2 for 1 cocktails and beer from 4pm to 9pm Monday through Saturday and 4pm to 7pm on Sunday. The guys who gaggle together here are the sometimes serious, sometimes playful executive types and the clerical hotties who file their nails and sharpen their tongues as part of their office routines. Not to worry, all of this posturing is quickly erased as the full scale attitude adjustment techniques applied by the stupefying gorgeous barmen mixing libations. The walls quickly melt away as the day’s troubles are erased.
Max Rodriguez further delights the regulars with his signature rendition of campy music videos, sketch comedy clips and variety show highlights. Sprinkled in are his in-house movie and TV show edits that can only be seen at Splash. Grab a buddy, your secretary or that guy on the bench press and stop in see why HX magazine calls this New York's most business and least business like after-hour office party. Local regulars such as Issac Mizrahi, John Waters and even gay sports stud Billy Bean have taken advantage of this two for one daily dose of decadence.
