Five years ago, in a garage at 246 Second Avenue West in North Bay, was the making of a true northern warehouse party and the beginning of Club 246 radio. Complete with two tables, a mixer, surround speakers, one bouncer and $3 cover, founder, Maxx Scholz, would spin alongside local favourites, J Fox and Bromics (just to name a few). Soon, the 246 party moved to Respect is Burning, in Sudbury, where Maxx got his first residency.

This only gave Maxx and co-founder, JC Checinski, a taste for what was to follow. They moved 246 to Toronto in 2002, with the hopes of leaving their mark in the music industry. Maxx and JC had dreams of building up a company that would provide dependable service and cater to the masses of house music enthusiasts and party-goers. Club246.com Inc. was born.

The 246 crew soon realized that there was potential in radio. Not only could they reach people all over North America through internet broadcasts, but also at live-to-air events from clubs all over the GTA. They hooked up with CHIN radio and started broadcasting on 100.7 fm Toronto and 97.9 fm Ottawa 7 days a week from 12am-5am. This gave Toronto locals and international talent the chance to showcase live sets, new music and events.

Now, Club246 radio reaches millions of listeners, goes live-to-air 7 days a week and hosts 9 weekly events, including DJ competitions. Club 246 can be found all over the GTA, such as Century Room on Tuesdays and Hotel Connected Thursdays, Viva and Footwork on Fridays and Barcode in Hamilton on Saturdays. 246 is working its way into the club scenes in Montreal and Buffalo. The station features weekly radio shows by international DJs, Roger Sanchez and Armin Van Buuren, as well as weekly executive mixes by Maxx and JC.

As the electronic music scene continues to grow in Toronto and beyond, Club 246 will keep working hard to provide the masses with a network of talented DJs and great music.
